Relay For Life – PRC Relay
Parkway Running Club is partnering with Relay For a Life and has created a fun running event as part of the festivities. The Relay for Life is from 6 pm-1 am. Our fun run relay would be at 8:30 PM, and it would only take an hour or less of your time on a Friday night.Create a team (of as many participants as you desire) and run a 3 mile relay in what ever fashion you design…EXAMPLE: runner 1 runs an 800, runner 2 runs 2 miles, runner 3 runs a 400 and runner 4 runs a 400. Total: 3 MilesWe would love to have a strong PRC turnout. As you all know, our friend and Club member Bob is battling cancer and many have been wondering what else we can do for him.We will run this for Bob, dedicate it to him, and help raise some money in Bob’s name in the fight against cancer!
Register Now for Walter’s Run PRC only Race
Volunteering at Walter’s Run on Sunday but still want to race? Have we got an event for you! Come run the Walter’s Run course with your PRC friends in the 1st ever PRC Only Walter’s Run 5k time-handicapped race.
What makes a handicap run different from an ordinary race? Participants are started based on their handicap time so that walkers and slower runners start first and faster runners start last. The idea is that everyone finishes around the same time – and everyone has an even chance of winning!
- Saturday December 10th. Start gun goes off at 8:30am
- Starting line will be on Mount Vernon St next to the Library to avoid crossing Centre St after the start.
- Aside from start, we’ll follow the exact Walter’s Run course. Note: not a closed race course, please be mindful of your surroundings!
- All racers will be seeded (see below) and we will have a staggered start
- Entry fee is a suggested donation of $5 to Walter’s Run charities
- Registration is required by Sat 12/3
- Kids – this event isn’t for the youngest (or junior) PRC members. Parents of teens, we ask that you consider your child’s safety when deciding on entry
- Bagels, coffee and breakfast goodies to follow
- Awards and prizes!
Please register below by 12/3. We need your two best races within the past year or so to help us seed you. Use the comment box to provide any additional info that will help us seed you correctly.
Goal is to have everyone finish the 5k together!
Boston Marathon Lottery – 2020
Please complete the form below to be added to the Boston Marathon 2020 bib lottery. We will select the names at the Thirsty Thursday gathering on January 23, 2020. Deadline for submitting to the lottery is 2pm on Thursday, January 23, 2020.
The BAA has given the PRC two invitational bibs this year. The BAA gives these bibs to Boston area running clubs to encourage participation in clubs and promote club cohesiveness, including running together as a group throughout the year.
- Those who have been members of PRC for a year are eligible for the lottery
- Those who put in for the lottery should have run regularly with the Club throughout the year.
- PRC expects those who receive the invitational bibs to train for the marathon with the Club, and in particular to do their long runs with the Club regularly.
- Those who volunteered at Club events and help manage Club activities get their name in the hat extra times.
- One of the numbers is set aside for a first time Boston Marathoner, so that as many Club members as possible can experience running Boston.

Walter’s Run initial meeting
This post is meant for Erin, Jim, Colleen, Reyna, Brian, Cindy and JulieO. Did I miss anyone?
Goal is to find a date for a kickoff Walter’s Run 2015 meeting that works for us. Use the comments below to let us know if you can make the dates. Reyna/Brian, please start the comments with your proposed dates and times.
We can meet at my house, happy to host and it is central for all.
James Joyce Ramble water stop
PRC will be working the Wampatuck Circle water stop (just past the 2 mile mark, see calendar for map) at the James Joyce Ramble again this year.
Please RSVP below with your name and the number of volunteers you are bringing. We need a head count!
We need volunteers around 9:30AM to fill up water cups and hand water to the runners as they run by (around 11:15) while encouraging them. Then we clean up and are done by noon, allowing us to get to the Ramble after party at the Endicott Estate fairly early.
This is good PR for the PRC as we hang our banner from the table(s), and also show our support for our other runners. And the post-race runner’s party is always a good time (free beer and food!). Typically, all volunteers get a free t-shirt, but it is not guaranteed. Don’t forget this gets your name in the hat for the marathon lottery.
